So I know that I have been wanting to blog on a consistent basis, but that continues to elude me right now as life continues to throw curveballs at me. In episode 14 of the Knight Writer Podcast, I will talk about some of those problems but, for now, this is the companion piece to episode where I will talk about Creating Dialogue for “Forget Me Not, Father.”

Knight Writer Podcast #10: The Library – Still Relevant for Writers

Aspiring author Sean D Knight discusses the importance of public libraries and how they are still a writer’s most valuable resource. Especially for new and struggling writers. Whether it is to research topics for your book, learn new things, or even to promote and sell your book.

Asking for Your One Sentence Pitch for the Knight Writer Podcast

For episode 7 of the Knight Writer Podcast, I will be looking at the one sentence pitch. I will take a look at recent examples that were used this past week and highlight the ones that caught an agent or publisher’s eye. Then I will attempt to create a one sentence pitch for my own novel (it will be interesting to see how my pitch evolves when I come back to this topic when I am done writing the novel).

Do you have a one sentence pitch you would like to share for the podcast or is there that you read which really stuck with you? Leave it in the comments section!

Harry Potter and the Courtship of Ginny Weasley Chapter 5

So this is the last chapter that I stopped writing at due to real life. Technically, I had started work on Chapter 6 before I stopped, but since it is incomplete, I have no plans to post it. With plans to start do some kind of writing stream on Twitch, that could change.

Still working on that particular concept.

But in this chapter, we get to see Harry interacting with little Teddy some more. I think that this is also the shortest chapter I had written so far.

Short and sweet is the old saying, I think.

Enjoy!

Harry Potter and the Courtship of Ginny Weasley Chapter 4

So with chapter 4 of this HP fanfic I wanted to briefly retell the last moments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows but from the point of Ginny. As I wrote this chapter, I still couldn’t come to accept that Harry had fallen in love with Ginny and not Hermione. So this chapter was to make Ginny more real as a character and to see if I could start getting to like her.

But I would have to try and do it in a way that wouldn’t be out of character. A hard task to do since there isn’t much to work with from the Harry Potter books.  I always wanted to do this in a series of flashbacks and, originally, those sections had been italicized. A decision I later came to regret after the first draft and, eventually, I did away with the italics and put in breaks.

The decision to bounce back between flashbacks and current reality was a choice I can’t explain, but I regret the layout looking back on it.

However, I’ll let you be the judge of it.

Short Story: The Flames of Elysium

When I first wrote The Flames of Elysium, it was a short story that had been written for a fanfiction contest. Of course, I didn’t know about the contest until a few days before it would end and wrote the story in a day. It was my first real attempt at trying to write a story and I became frustrated with the 10,000 word limit. I had created an interesting background for the main character that I had wanted to go into with more depth.

But that did not happen.
